Galton Blackiston never received formal culinary training.
After leaving school at 16, he initially pursued cricket but was encouraged by his mother to set up a market stall selling homemade baked goods under the name “Galton’s Goodies”.
His first restaurant job was at John Tovey’s Miller Howe country hotel in Windermere, Lake District.

In 2013, Blackiston ventured into the world of fish and chips by opening No 1 Cromer, a fish and chip shop in Cromer.
