Overview
Björn Frantzén is a Swedish chef and former footballer. Born on January 26, 1977, he has made significant waves in the culinary world.
Frantzén played football for AIK between 1992 and 1996 before embarking on his culinary path.
His journey led him to work at various restaurants, including Edsbacka krog, Chez Nico’s, Dining Lettonie, Pied a Terre, and L’Arpege.
In 2008, he opened Frantzén/Lindeberg, which received its first Michelin star in 2009 and its second in 2010.
The restaurant continued to be rated two stars through 2016.
Frantzén also started Catering Frantzén and Gaston, a wine bar in Stockholm.
He championed the project “Exceptional Swedish Quality Food,” elevating Swedish raw products to a world-class standard.
International Ventures:
In 2016, Frantzén opened his first international restaurant, Frantzén’s Kitchen, in Hong Kong.
He later opened The Flying Elk in Hong Kong, which unfortunately closed by the end of 2019 due to economic challenges.
In 2018, he launched Zén in Singapore, following his novel “3-floors of eating experience” concept from Frantzén.
Zén received its third Michelin star in 2021.
Personal Life:
Frantzén married his long-term partner, Sara Sandberg, in July 2016.
They have two daughters, Leiah and Stella, who live with them in Stockholm.
