Overview

Jake Bickelhaupt is an American chef based in Chicago, Illinois. His culinary journey has been both captivating and tumultuous.

Jake Bickelhaupt gained fame as the chef and owner of 42 Grams, a restaurant that achieved two Michelin stars.
The restaurant’s unique story was the subject of a 2017 documentary of the same name.
Bickelhaupt and his then-wife, Alexandra Welsh, transformed an illegal restaurant operating out of their home into the brick-and-mortar 42 Grams in less than a year.
Unfortunately, in 2018, 42 Grams closed after Bickelhaupt pleaded guilty following domestic abuse charges filed by Welsh.

Currently, Jake Bickelhaupt serves as the chef and owner of Stone Flower Restaurant in Chicago.
His ability to create menus and turn pop-up restaurants into Michelin-starred establishments has garnered recognition.
Bickelhaupt primarily focuses on creating new American cuisine with a distinct Asian influence.

Bickelhaupt’s culinary journey continues with his second act.
He is set to open a new brick-and-mortar restaurant called Konro in West Palm Beach in January.
This move represents a fresh start for the chef, who seeks redemption and aims to earn Michelin stars in South Florida.
Jake Bickelhaupt’s resilience and dedication to his craft demonstrate that the culinary world is full of twists and turns, but passion prevails.
