Born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, Charlie Mitchell developed his passion for food and cooking from his grandmother.
He fondly remembers her whole fried bass, emphasizing that it was always served “head on.”
Although he attended culinary school briefly, Mitchell preferred hands-on experience and found his way to employment by Googling restaurants in the metro area.

Mitchell honed his skills in renowned restaurants, including Eleven Madison Park, a New American fine dining establishment in Manhattan’s Flatiron District.
His culinary journey eventually led him to a quiet, leafy street in Brooklyn Heights.
Clover Hill: Michelin-Starred Excellence:
Charlie Mitchell is the executive chef and co-owner of Clover Hill, a One Michelin Star restaurant in Brooklyn Heights.
The restaurant opened in 2019 but faced challenges due to the pandemic.
Mitchell’s dedication to fine dining and his innovative approach have earned him accolades and recognition.

In 2022, Mitchell received the Michelin Guide New York Young Chef Award, presented in partnership with Blancpain.
